Main part of Town on Naxos, Greece
This is the island that I visit every year. I usually spend my days sleeping, swimming, and drinking on the beach (not necessarily in that order). My nights are most often spent at a cafe in town where I drink until the sun comes up. |

Campsite on Naxos, Greece
This is my campsite. Though I can't say I spent too much time there. I do really love my tent. It weighs only 4 lbs. and is all-weather. When I was in Paliouri I had the opportunity to test it out. A really bad storm came through and all of the campers had to pack up and find shelter........except for me. |

Friends From Naxos, Greece
These are some girlfriends (2 Brits, 1 Kiwi) that I usually end up meeting in Naxos every summer. They are great fun and even better partiers. Unfortunately in 2005 right after I got back, I saw one of the girls on TV.........after they had pulled her out of the London underground in the wake of the bombings. She seemed coherant on the Sky/Fox broadcast, though she looked bloodied and filthy. I did find out later from her in an e-mail that she sustained only minor injuries and that she wasn't even supposed to be in London that day!
(she's the girl in the white blouse) |

The Portara on Naxos, Greece
The Portara, or the "Door/Portal", was once a great temple to Apollo. Now all that remains is a structure that resembles a door frame. |

Cliffs of Santorini, Greece
When ferrying into Santorini, your jaw will drop in amazement. There is no island like it anywhere else on the planet earth. All of the towns are built on top of the cliffs and you must take a harrowing ride up them to get into town. |

The Black Sands of Santorini, Greece
On the outside of the rim of the island are beaches of black sand. You can lounge on the beach and waiters will come out to you and take orders for your lunch. At some point in the day, you can cross the street and pick up some hand-made leather sandals of the best quality. Mine are 3 years old and I am still wearing them. If you are smart, before you leave, you will scoop up some of that sand and bring it home with you. There is nothing like it! |

Shops in Belgrade, Serbia
When I was in Belgrade, I was fortunate to have visited the Stari Grad (Old Town). It's where all of the history is located. This is a newer part of town, but it still has a beautiful European flavor. |

Zoo in Belgrade, Serbia
Known as a zooloshki vrt (litteral translation: zoological garden) in Serbian, the zoo turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip to Belgrade. My Austrian friend and myself wandered around in what seemed to be a labrynth of animal displays. It was quite different from what we see here in the states. The "mini-goats" were my favorite. |

PO2 Casey Tibbs Wins the Gold
One of the best parts of my 2004 trip to Greece was seeing my friend and shipmate PO2 Case Tibbs win 2 Gold medals and a silver at the Paralympics. After a motorcycle accident took off his leg below the knee, he was set to be discharged from the Navy. Casey worked his ass off and 4 months after the accident, he passed a physical fitness test with an "excellent" rating. Today he is considered one of the best sailors in the Navy. It is truly an incredible experience to watch him run. He is so fast. |

US Wheelchair Rugby Team, 2004 Paralympics, Greece
I am sorry about the quality of this picture. And it is truly a disappointment for me because it is the only proof that I have. If you look closely, you will see me in a white tanktop with my arm around a guy named Mark Zupan. He has the black ball cap, the goatee and the tatoo covering his entire shin. Anyway, I was out cooling myself by the fountains and I was approached by the US rugby team. And Zupan started hitting on me (along with the rest of the rugby team, but I only noticed Zupan-the rest were too young). I have to admit, he was REALLY cute, but I was with Nick at the time. To my dismay, he is hugely famous now. He was the star of that documentary "Murderball". I could be dating a famous athlete right now. I feel like a chump. Below is a picture of the man I could be married to right this very minute. He's tough. He's cool. He's hot. He's perfect. I am such an ass.
