How many jumps are required before I get my wings?
The Doctor put me on some new medicine (Prednisone) for my RA,and after taking it for 3 weeks,I suffered some dizziness.
Vertigo is rare, but it is a side effect experienced by a few people.
I went out to weed whack my front lawn Sataurday.
Then I placed the Weed Whacker and extension cord on the side walk so I could mow without running over it.
Halfway up my front steps I noticed some of the cord was still on the sidewalk.
I turned around, and leaned over to grab the cord...next thing I know,I was in mid air going head first towards the pavement.
I twisted my body enough to avoid a face first landing, and landed on my shoulder and side, just below my hip.
Cut my thumb a little.
I went inside and checked myself out and found the heel of my work boot flapping in the breeze...I assumed that is what tripped me.
I changed into sneakers and went back out .
On my steps I leaned over to pick up the weed whacker again, and I was airborne once again.
Landed more or less the same way.
Called the Doctor, and he took me off the medicine...said if the diiziness continued,he wanted an MRI of my head, just to play it safe.
I stopped the medicine Sat.,and this is Tuesday, the dizziness is almost all gone.
Nothing seems broken, nothing hurts when moved, but I have a very large very dark bruise on my leg ,just below my butt.
Good thing I did not get vertigo two days earlier.
We are cleaning out our attic, and carrying stuff down the attic steps, and then down to the first floor.
I will get back to you guys as soon as I can...we rented a dumpster and are getting rid of 35 years of accumulated junk...lol
Needless to say ,I am staying downstairs with both feet planted firmly on the floor.
My son is making the trips to the attic and back

Well its been 4 days since I fell down the steps, and 4 days sine I stopped the prednisone, and the dizziness has subsided.
Guess I will not need an MRI.
A guy at the Big Red One website said he had vertigo so bad 4 years ago, that it appeared the room was spinning.
Had to do with his inner ear.
The Doc. gave him some exercises to do in the Doctor's office and also at home.
He says the vertigo went away and only had 2 more small spells since then.
Has something to do with the fluid or foreign particles in the inner ear.
Last resort is surgery to plug a tube in your ear.
Its called:

Well its been over a week since I fell...and then discontinued the Prednisone.
No more dizziness so I guess it was the medicine causing it.
Going up and down the stairs is no problem now.
Damn,there for awhile I thought I was getting old..lol!!! |

I get dizzy once in a while myself.
Usually after a few tall, cold ones! :D
In all seriousness, I'm glad you're okay Homer. |
