You're probably the one on the board who gives a damn. My brother and I went to see The Who yesterday. Have you ever seen them? It's amazing how Daltrey and Townshend still exhibit such joy at what they do for a living after doing it for 40 years. Their classics were pretty explosive, including "I Can't Explain", "Who Are You", "Baba O'Riley", "Pinball Wizard" and "Won't Get Fooled Again". The new material is less thrilling, but it was fun. Townshend talked about their first tour in Sweden 40 years ago, when the band used to drive around in an old Volvo and borrowed instruments from local opening acts.
The concert was in Stockholm, in an arena that's just a 15-minute walk from my apartment. That's luxury.
Great fun. :D |

No, I have never seen "The Who" in concert but have been a fan of their music since early childhood. I was weened on rock & roll (thanks to most of my friends having older brothers) and I like almost all the "classic" rock bands from the 60's & 70's. I suppose it's because that's when I was growing up, but to me the rock from those two decades was the best.
Glad you had a good time at the show. It must be nice to go see a concert so close to where you live. in 1988-1990 I lived in Worcester, Massachusetts (about one hour west of Boston) and the Worcester-Centrum was about a 10-15 minute walk from my apt. so I saw a ton of great shows those two years. Bob Dylan, Prince, Elton John, The Moody Blues, Robert Plant, Jimi Page, Metallica are just a few that come to mind.
Btw, "Baba O' Riley" is one of the best songs ever in my view! |
